Across Canada, public land is being reclassified under programs with positive-sounding names, such as conservation reserves, ecological corridors, and adventure parks.
In law, these are permanent land-use designations.
They change how land can be used, who controls it, and who has access.
Once approved, public access is often restricted, local flexibility is reduced, and the decision is difficult to reverse.
Many of these changes move forward quietly, with short consultation periods and limited public explanation. By the time people understand the impact, the decision is already made.
CCLP exists to bring transparency to these processes and ensure the public has the information and opportunity needed to engage before access is lost.
